Calico Beans – Garnish with Strips of Bacon…

OK - this one's an actual family secret (I think)...  These are beans that my grandmother used to make and this is what I thought all 'baked beans' tasted like.  Nothing against Bush's, but this blows the canned stuff away.  I love the fact that a can of 'beans and franks' is used as an ingredient in something else.  As I said in a previous post - I didn't grow up with high-brow food, just really good tasting food...    'Garnish with strips of bacon if desired'.  Awesome.

I actually didn't know that I had this recipe - it was one of the 100+ recipe cards that I went through a month or so ago and, because of the title, I didn't process what I was holding.  Enjoy.
