I occasionally get the urge to write something about the work that I do and/or my profession in general. I also draw little distinction between b-to-b marketing, sales, lead generation, company social media outreach, public relations, etc.. In smaller organizations these should all be facets of the same coordinated effort. If you are at GE or Intel or [insert large company here] and want to disagree with me, feel free to do so.
I admit that things are different at large organizations (although I think they are less different than most people think) and I frankly don't have the energy to argue with you on this, but it's one of the reasons that I like working with smaller, growing companies - the ability to build and grow a program that incorporates all of these areas is what I enjoy and find most effective. Also - I'm generally not talking about b-to-c efforts in any of these posts. Selling and marketing to consumers is generally not something that have a great deal of experience with and don't really understand.
