I generally don’t enjoy TV shows. I don’t hate TV (it’s probably on too much in my house actually), but I do tend to dislike 90%+ of the shows that make it to television. So I tend to blow off stuff that others say is great and push on me to watch. Same goes with books and movies – if Oprah loves it, I generally want nothing to do with it. If it wins the Academy Award for best picture – I’m probably not going to watch it…
So I have avoided most television with a few minor exceptions (Archer, Sealab 2021, the Soup, and soccer) over the last few years. Therefore I didn’t watch any Big Bang Theory. I also didn’t really have an urge to check-out Firefly while everyone in the SF world was bitching about it being cancelled.…
Anyway, over the last few weeks I’ve spent a ridiculous number of hours watching TV as my wife and I have caught up with the Big Bang Theory (from S1E1 through today) and now I’m watching the whole of Firefly (which really isn’t too much considering it was cancelled). I have to say that I really like both shows. I’m slightly ashamed of myself for watching so much TV and so eagerly anticipating the actual watching, but what do you do…? It’s actually good TV!
I have to say that they haven’t blown it so far and I’m impressed with the fact that neither show assumes I’m a moron.
Now I need to go any buy the boxed set of Sealab 2021 (man, I love that show) and I’ll be all set.
