Before I get into this little story - I should note that I have no connection with fitbit as a company at all.
That being said - I love the fitbit. I had been using the original fitbit for a year and something and managed to lose quite a bit of weight in the process. Combining daily feedback on activity levels, food/calorie consumption & output, weight, etc. is apparently what I need in order to stay healthy. Didn't realize this for years and then I got the fitbit and everything seemed to come together.
Then I lost it at the airport. Having dropped it many times (but always finding it) I finally lost it in the airport in Atlanta and didn't realize it until I was through security and heading for the plane. Bye bye fitbit....
Please note that I can also be oddly cheap and, having achieved my weight goals, I figured that I could keep things on-track without the device and the service. Didn't happen. So - I bought a new fitbit, this time the wristband version. 3 days later it fell off my wrist and I haven't been able to find it since. That was 4 weeks ago. Looked everywhere inside and outside our house. A friend even looked for awhile to help, but no dice....
However, it turned out that it was covered under warranty and they sent me a new one this week!!! Thank you fitbit - I weighed myself this morning (something that I hadn't done in the months since I lost the original) and it seems that I have slowly accumulated 15 pounds of weight that now needs to be dealt with.
Moral of the story - I need constant feedback on certain things and weight and health are apparently one of those things. Looking forward to getting the extra weight back off and so glad that fitbit covered the lost device.
